Australian Gold Lunar...
4+ years in the making....and it ended tonight!!
:5_1_120::bulride::565: I started the collection in 2006, back when gold was in the low 600s....that was a fun time. Last week I bought on ebay the last one I was never able to get...especially after mintages were released....yep....the Ox. My winning bid was $1326. Less 129.80 from previously earned bing cashback, credit card was charged 1196.20. But also earned 26.52 from ebates which brings it down to $1169.68. I say not bad for a current 1096 spot (was higher last week). And.......here it is! http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/DSC_0211.jpg And here it is with the rest of its family :clap2: http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/DSC_0223.jpg |

Re: Australian Gold Lunar...
I've got a full set of the 1 oz series 1 Gold Lunars too though I don't have the presentation box. I'll bet that a damned small percentage of the population of the world can say the same.
I've tried to photo the gold ox several times but never worth a s***. Below a gold dog and a silver ox. I finally got a semi-decent shot of the silver ox, YEA! Had to work for that. Like the gold ox, not easy to shoot well. I had to create most of the detail with lighting. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3245/...d96a0b95_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3141/...eeee96fe_b.jpg |
Re: Australian Gold Lunar...
Very nice pics TomD. I like trying to get the bright shine from the coin...to show the reflection (makes it looks like points of light or something). haha.
I really enjoyed collecting the lunar set. Mainly cause I knew there was a set number of coins in the set...not like pandas or others where they keep adding more every year. That and the fact that these coins are geniunely great to just look at....very good quality artwork on them. I guess all i really need now is the 1 oz gold dog and pig proof....being those were different designs than the bullion 1oz-ers! :36_1_25: Somehow I doubt I'll come across the proof ones....but ya never know hehe. Now onto the next collection....:15_1_70v: |
Re: Australian Gold Lunar...
Nice Job and congrats GoldenE!!!!!!! :23_30_104:Great price on the 1 ounce Ox (Lowest mintage of the set 13,709 produced). Tough one to snag.
Im currently working on my 1/10 ounce set and 1 ounce set. About half way there. IMHO I think the Australian Lunar gold coins are really in a class by themselves and outshine anything else on the market. Again nice job and very nice pics. |
